This aerial picture shows a part of nearly-completed Shard near London Bridge at dusk after 18 months of construction. The Shard will be Europe’s tallest building thanks to the height of 310m (1,017ft). At present, the concrete core is now 800 feet tall and can be clearly seen dominating the cityscape even in its incomplete state. The Shard is designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano and financed by Qatar. The building will have planned to rise to 87 storeys, 310m (1,016ft) by 2012. 72 floors have now been completed. The tower is expected to attract two million visitors per day.
